MiraDry® uses a handheld device that applies thermal heat to remove unwanted hair and sweat glands. The whole treatment takes about one hour.

Dr. Hiatt or one of his specially trained nurses will begin by numbing the underarm and placing temporary markings to serve as a guide for treatment. The handpiece is then applied directly to the skin, and it lightly suctions the area to bring the sweat and odor glands closer to the surface. Microwave technology heats and destroys the glands as well as hair follicles while the cooling technology helps protect your skin and keep you comfortable.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any side effects associated with miraDry®?: There may be some minor side effects, such as redness, swelling, and tenderness. You may also experience numbness in the treatment area for several months. Since there are no incisions, there will also be no post-treatment scarring.
Am I a candidate for miraDry®?: If you are one of the millions of people who suffer from hyperhidrosis, excessive underarm odor, or unwanted underarm hair, miraDry® may be the solution for you.
Can I get miraDry® if I don’t have light skin and dark hair?: Yes! MiraDry® works on any hair color and any skin color, so you can undergo treatment whether you have light skin and light hair, dark skin and dark hair, or even dark skin and light hair.
Can I use deodorant after miraDry®?: Unless there is irritation on your underarm skin, you may begin applying deodorant within two to three weeks of the treatment, although it will probably be unnecessary.
Is miraDry® safe?: The treatment is safe, and removing the sweat glands will not prevent your body from regulating temperature; the sweat glands beneath the arms account for only about one percent of the body’s total sweat glands and are not essential to cooling the body.
