3 Minute Read:

Oversized breasts are the bane of many women’s existence. From body aches to emotional distress, large breasts affect more than just clothing size.

A woman who no longer suffers from oversized breasts.

Women who have medical issues caused by oversized breasts may want to consider a breast reduction as a way to treat the underlying cause of their concerns.

1. Reduced Back Pain

One of the most common medical issues caused by oversized breasts is back pain. Excessive breast tissue can throw off a patient’s balance, resulting in poor posture and persistent back issues. Excess weight can also cause lower back pain as the body cannot fully compensate for the extra weight.

By reducing the size and weight of a patient’s breasts, breast reduction surgery can help relieve the pressure that causes many types of back pain.

2. Reduced Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain can be caused by excess weight on the chest from heavy breasts. It can also be caused by bra straps digging into the shoulder blades. Whether caused by muscular tension or bra straps, shoulder pain can cause a significant reduction in a patient’s quality of life.

If you are experiencing chronic shoulder pain caused by cumbersome breasts, a breast reduction can help.

3. Reduced Neck Pain

Excess weight on the chest from oversized breasts can cause neck pain. This can be due to strained tendons, pinched nerves, and, in some cases, subluxation (partially dislocated) vertebrae. While a breast reduction may not immediately solve all of these issues, it can prevent the condition from becoming more severe.

Most patients should recover over time once the excess weight is removed. Consult your doctor to see if your chronic neck pain is caused by the size or weight of your breasts.

4. Eliminate Rashes and Sores

Oversized breasts can droop, causing skin under the breasts to rub. This can cause rashes, open sores, and infections. Worse, because the breasts move constantly, these sores rarely have the opportunity to heal. By reducing the size of your breasts and lifting the excess skin, the areas affected by these conditions can start to repair themselves.

Over time, this provides a vast improvement in a patient’s quality of life.

5. Increase Mobility

A common issue linked to oversized breasts is a decrease in mobility. Oversized breasts can cause exercise to be inconvenient or even painful. This causes people to avoid exercise, causing other medical conditions (such as weight gain), and making exercise even less comfortable. In extreme cases, this cycle can result in patients becoming entirely bedridden.

A breast reduction can solve this issue before it gets that far. By reducing the breasts, patients will find that they no longer hurt themselves while attempting to exercise. This allows them to maintain a healthier lifestyle without chronic pain.

6. Increase Breathing Capabilities

When breasts are too heavy, they can place pressure on the chest and lungs, making it difficult to breathe.

This can cause a series of other medical concerns and dramatically reduce a patient’s quality of life. By removing some of that excess weight, patients who have difficulty breathing can increase ease and comfort.
