Don’t Let Excessive Underarm Sweating Interfere With Your Spring
3 Minute Read:
Hyperhidrosis—the technical term for excessive sweating—can be caused by several things, including menopause, diabetes, nervous system disorders, and conditions not linked to health.
No matter what causes it, the condition can be embarrassing and very uncomfortable, especially once the weather warms up and jackets are no longer needed.
Happily, there are treatments available to control excessive underarm sweating in time for summer and all its sleeveless fashions.
What Is MiraDry®?
Previously, patients had to choose between serious treatments such as surgery, medication, and BOTOX® injections or more lightweight solutions like antiperspirants and special wipes to control overactive sweat glands.
That is no longer the case!
MiraDry® harnesses microwave thermal technology to target sweat glands and treat excessive underarm sweating without invasive procedures or significant downtime. FDA and dermatologist-approved to be safe and effective, this treatment is proving increasingly popular among men and women of all ages.
Why Should I Consider MiraDry®?
MiraDry® has multiple benefits—it’s like getting three treatments in one!
- Reduces excessive sweating: By eliminating overactive sweat glands, your body will not produce as much sweat. True to its name, MiraDry® significantly reduces sweat.
- Eliminates underarm odor: If there is anything more embarrassing than the look of wet armpits, it has to be armpits that smell. Some individuals experience underarm odor that cannot be controlled with deodorants. MiraDry® helps eliminate this odor.
- Permanently reduces underarm hair: Shaving is no fun. Neither is waxing. MiraDry® allows you to reduce or eliminate unwanted armpit hair. For most, this minimizes the need for shavers or waxing appointments.
How Is MiraDry® Administered?
In preparation for the treatment, non-permanent guide marks and numbing solutions are applied. A handheld device is directed to the treatment area that lightly suctions the skin, bringing sweat and odor glands close to the surface.
Thermal technology heats and destroys these glands and their adjacent hair follicles. The whole treatment takes about 90 minutes.
What Kind of Results Can I Expect With MiraDry®?
Often, one treatment is enough to produce visible reductions in sweating, odor, and hair growth. Some patients require a second treatment to achieve the desired 85 to 95 percent reduction in underarm sweat, odor, and hair.
Once treatment is complete, results should be permanent, and no follow-up required.
