Male breasts are quite common and respond well to gynecomastectomy. Young men often feel the need to wear multiple shirts to hide their chest, even in the middle of summer. Usually surgery can be done through a small incision made in the lower part of the areola. It takes about 2 hours and is done as an outpatient. The muscle is not involved in the surgery so recovery time is minimal although some minor swelling may persist for a week or two.
