Breast Augmentation Surgery

Breast augmentation is usually referred to meaning 'enlargement' and 'enhancement'. The enlargement is performed in order to create a fuller appearance. The enhancement portion of the procedure may involve the lifting of the breasts to correct sagging. Sagging of the breasts is usually associated with age or pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Augmentation is done by creating an incision in the crease under the breast and making a pocket deep into the breast and chest muscle. A saline or silicone implant is then placed behind the breast and muscle into the pocket.

Dr. Hiatt has utilized all surgical incisions including the crease under the breast, through the nipple, and through the underarm. He feels, however that better implant symmetry and contour is achieved through the crease under the breast. After the breast is augmented, the incision line usually becomes hidden and inconspicuous.

Surgery time is about 2 hours and recovery approximately 7-10 days. After your surgery, you can usually return to work in just a few days.
