Breast augmentation is usually associated with enhancement to create a larger and fuller shape. It also may involve lifting the breast to correct sagging, which is often a result of breast-feeding and aging.
Augmentation is done by creating a pocket deep into the breast and chest muscle and placing a saline filled implant into the pocket.
Dr. Hiatt has utilized all surgical incisions including the crease under the breast, through the nipple, and through the underarm. He feels, however that better implant symmetry and contour is achieved through the crease under the breast. After the breast is augmented, the incision line usually becomes hidden and inconspicuous. Surgery time is about 2 hours and recovery approximately 7-10 days.
